JOIN THE CONVERSATION!

ON NATIONAL COFFEE WITH A COP DAY WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 5, 2022

PURCELLVILLE, Va. September 16, 2022 — On Wednesday October 5, 2022, all residents, young and older, are invited to attend Purcellville Police Department’s National Coffee with a Cop Day events. Community members can join the conversation at two locations, as well as two different times in town. Chick-Fil-A, located at 165 Purcellville Gateway Dr., from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., and My Deli & Cafe, located at 860 E Main Street, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; will host the events. Each year on the first Wednesday in October, National Coffee with a Cop Day brings men and women in uniform together with their community members to converse over a cup of coffee.

Coffee with a Cop provides an excellent opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn more about the Purcellville Police Department’s work throughout the town. If you have questions about this years’ event, please contact the Purcellville Police Department at

540.338.7422, or ckermode@purcellvilleva.gov.

Often interactions between the public and law enforcement occur during emergencies or emotionally heightened situations. These are not the best times for relationship building, and some community members may not feel comfortable approaching officers on patrol. Coffee with a Cop bridges the gap between residents and law enforcement, and allows for a positive, relaxed, interaction.

“Coffee with a cop provides an opportunity for our officers and residents to engage in casual advantageous environment. It is my hope that the community always feels comfortable enough to approach and ask us questions, share their concerns, or simply get to know our officers” said Chief Cynthia McAlister.

The Town of Purcellville, Virginia

“Purcellville-your small Town, where history and progress intersect and people prosper,” is an award-winning town of approximately 10,000 residents located in Loudoun County, approximately 50 miles west of Washington, DC. Having received the 2021 Virginia Municipal League Innovation Award for Environmental Sustainability and in years past, the prestigious Siemens Sustainability Award for Small Communities, Purcellville continues to be honored for innovation and green initiatives.  The Town most recently received the Tree City USA Award for the 14th consecutive year. The Town was reaffirmed as a AAA rated community by S&P Global Ratings, the highest credit rating possible, and was ranked “Safest City” in Virginia in 2020. Once a stop along the W&OD rail line, which has been converted to a multi-use trail from Alexandria, VA to Purcellville, the Town has maintained its historic old-town feel through the restoration and maintenance of its many downtown structures, reflecting the Victorian architecture popular during the early 1900s. Today, Purcellville is the economic hub of western Loudoun County and a popular weekend destination for antiquing, equestrian activities, farmer’s markets, wineries, breweries, distilleries and restaurants.
