[ARCHIVED] News Release-Nursery Ave Roadway and Drainage Improvements Project Start

PURCELLVILLE, Va.  July 27, 2020 — Beginning the week of August 3, 2020, the Town’s Contractor, Arthur Construction Co. Inc., will commence construction on the Nursery Avenue Roadway & Drainage Improvements project.  This project, funded by VDOT and NVTA, includes culvert replacement; installation of storm sewer, sidewalk, underdrain, curb and gutter, and driveway aprons; waterline replacement; and street paving.  Part of the construction requires a road closure of Nursery Avenue from J Street to School Street.  That section of Nursery Avenue will be closed (except for local traffic) with a detour in place for approximately 6-7 months to allow for the installation of the improvements along that section of roadway.  The remainder of the construction on Nursery Avenue north of J Street will utilize single lane closures during working hours only.  Additionally, Town Staff may perform some maintenance work along Nursery Avenue prior to August 3rd and in advance of Arthur Construction beginning their work.

Work will generally occur Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  Total construction time is expected to last 13-14 months, although this schedule may change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Residents are asked to be aware of work zones and alert for changes in vehicular and pedestrian traffic patterns in areas where work is being performed.
