[ARCHIVED] News Release - Town of Purcellville Coronavirus Weekly Update 05.15.2020

PURCELLVILLE, Va., May 15, 2020 — Attached is the Weekly Coronavirus Update for the Town of Purcellville.  This week’s summary of information regarding effects of COVID-19-related changes within Purcellville includes brief reminders from Governor Northam’s recently issued Executive Order 62.  Despite earlier uncertainty, we can now confirm that Executive Order 62 does apply to the Town of Purcellville.

Executive Order 62 delays the entrance of the Northern Virginia Region into Phase One of reopening until May 29th, to allow more time for health metrics in our area to improve.   Existing restrictions continue to remain in place, including the banning of gatherings of more than 10 people; closure of recreation, entertainment, and personal care businesses; and limiting of restaurants to offering takeout and delivery services only.  Please refer to the full text of Executive Order 62 for any questions.

Residents are reminded that the Town Election will take place on Thursday, June 4, 2020.  May 28, 2020 is the last day residents may request an absentee ballot.  For those who have completed, but not yet returned their absentee ballot, the Loudoun County Office of Elections (750 Miller Drive, SE, Suite C, Leesburg, VA  20175) must receive ballots either by mail or in person, no later than 7pm on June 4th, Election Day.  For additional election information, visit https://www.loudoun.gov/5350/June-4-2020-Town-Elections.

With the welcomed arrival of warmer weather, please remember to maintain social distancing guidelines of six feet while outdoors.  In addition, please refrain from social gatherings of more than 10 people, in both private and/or public settings.

Thank you for your continued adherence to the health and safety guidelines of the Virginia Department of Health and Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and your commitment to the wellness of our community.
