PURCELLVILLE, Va. April 27, 2020 — The Tree and Environment Sustainability Committee and the Purcellville Arts Council are pleased to announce the winners of the Wonder of Trees Poster Contest. Congratulations to Cecelia Ours, Rachel Smith, Anastasia Hortega, Matthew Barrett, Claire Chappell, Olivia Alletto, and Elliot Gilchrist. The committee members were impressed with the quality and creativity of the submissions and wish to thank all 43 students who participated in the contest.
Initially, all of the posters were going to be displayed in Town Hall throughout the month of April. However, since Purcellville Town Hall is closed to the public as a result of COVID-19, the recognition of the students and the posters has been amended. The current plan is to display all of the posters that were submitted in Purcellville Town Hall throughout the month of September and recognize the winners at the annual Hail to the Trail – Purcellville Green Expo planned for Sunday, October 11, 2020. Additionally, to celebrate Arbor Day, a video of all of the posters was published on the Purcellville Parks and Recreation Facebook page on April 24.
