PURCELLVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT ADDITIONAL

COVID-19 PROTECTIVE MEASURES

PURCELLVILLE, Va., April 4, 2020 — In order to protect the health and well-being of both our constituents and our officers, the Purcellville Police Department has implemented additional safety protocols as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) during the Coronavirus pandemic.  The majority of the prevention measures were executed internally among police personnel such as additional disinfecting, steps to increase social distancing among employees and the public, and enacting teleworking options when applicable.  Following recommendations from the CDC, additional personal protective equipment (PPE) was distributed to our officers.  The PPE kits include protective face masks and gloves, which our officers may be seen wearing more frequently in public.  Following the most recent guidelines provided by the CDC, please be advised you might see more of our officers wearing face masks as an additional pro-active protective measure for the safety of both residents and our officers.  Due to the nature of police work, officers may not always be able to maintain the CDC recommended six feet of social distancing, therefore the wearing of the face mask could be utilized more frequently.

In an effort to minimize non-emergency in-person contact, we would like to remind residents that online reporting for certain non-violent offenses is available for the Purcellville Police Department via the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Online Reporting System at https://www.loudoun.gov/4596/Report-A-Crime.  Please follow the instructions to see if your incident is reportable online.  If you have any questions about filing an online report, or if online reporting is appropriate for your situation, please contact the LCSO Emergency Communications Center at 703-777-1021 for assistance.

We also ask that that residents continue to follow the recent Temporary Stay at Home Order guidelines under the Governor’s Executive Order 55.  Our officers come to work every day to serve and protect the Town of Purcellville, and we ask that you do your part by staying home.

For additional safety measures individuals may take to protect themselves from the spread of COVID-19, please visit the CDC website.
