Accident Investigations


05/31/19, 6:35 AM Colonial Highway and Berlin Turnpike

Property Damage accident only. No injuries.

05/31/19 – 4:22 p.m. 500 Block E, Main Street Destruction of Property/Hit and Run

On the above date and time, an officer responded to a business in the 500 block of E. Main Street for a report of destruction of property. The victim reported that someone driving a grey Ford Freestyle with Virginia tags backed into a commercial mail box, knocking it to the ground. The driver left without stopping or providing information. Based on a possible tag, a Deputy from Fauquier responded to a residence there, but it appeared that this was not the right location.

The investigation is on-going

05/31/2019 – 5:30 p.m. 600 Block Dominion Terrace Destruction of Property

On the above date and time, an officer responded and met with a resident who noted the presence of a small laceration on the sidewall of her right rear tire. The tire was still inflated. It did not appear to be a typical slash or puncture according to the investigating officer. This occurred sometime between 5/20/19 and 5/31/19.

There were no other similar reports in the area and there are no suspects at this time.

06/01//2019 – 3:47 a.m. W. Main & 32nd Street Driving While Intoxicated

While on routine patrol, an officer observed a vehicle traveling on Main Street, cross the double yellow line two times. Upon stopping the car, the officer noted that the driver smelled strongly of alcoholic beverage. The driver failed multiple field sobriety tests, and was arrested for DUI. His blood alcohol level was .18

06/01/2019 – 9:17 p.m. 100 Block of Maple Avenue Drunk in Public

On the above date and time, officers responding for a disorderly subject encountered an intoxicated, argumentative subject, near Twiggs boutique. As she was in no condition to care for herself and it would be unsafe to leave her in public, she was transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center, where she remained until sober.

06/01//2019 – 8:36 p.m. 125 Hirst Road Road Rage

Officers responded to the Police Department to meet with a citizen who was reporting a road rage incident. The complainant reported that he was driving on south bound 29th Street when a white Land Rover began to tailgate him. This continued throughout town, with the aggressive driver blowing his horn for extended periods of time. The victim, followed by the suspect, pulled into the Police Department. The aggressor was yelling profanities at the victim and only stopped when the victim exited his car and took pictures of the driver of the Land Rover.

The investigation is on-going.

06/05//2019 – 7:13 p.m. 1020 E. Main Street Driving While Intoxicated

While on routine patrol, in the traffic circle at Berlin Turnpike and E. Main Street, an officer’s car was cut off by a driver that failed to yield the right of way. The officer followed and observed the vehicle failing to maintain lane control. Upon stopping and approaching the car, the officer noted a strong odor of alcoholic beverage. The driver failed multiple field sobriety tests and was arrested. His blood alcohol level was .13
