[ARCHIVED] News Release - Plastic Bags No Longer Can Be Used for Recycling - REVISED

PURCELLVILLE, Va. August 28, 2018 — The Town’s refuse and recycling contractor American Disposal has been informed by the area recycle processing facilities that effective immediately PLASTIC BAGS can no longer be accepted in any curbside recycling containers.  Please note, this includes ALL plastic bags, not just the recycling of bags (which you may take to the grocery store and place in the designated bag recycling container) but plastic bags that had been used previously to collect your recyclables. Going forward, all recyclables will need to be either loose in the recycling bin, contained in paper bags or cardboard.  Please refer to the attached graphic for additional information.

In addition, residents are reminded to place all of their refuse, recyclables, yard waste and any previously scheduled special collection items curbside no later than 7:00 AM each Wednesday.  Collection routes and times can vary weekly so a failure to have your materials out on time may result in their non-collection.
