[ARCHIVED] News Release - Elimination of Town Decals Effective January 1, 2018

PURCELLVILLE, Va. (December 21, 2017) — Town Council approved amendments to the motor vehicle license ordinance on November 14, 2017. The new ordinances go into effect January 1, 2018.

The major changes to the motor vehicle license ordinances are the elimination of the requirement of residents and businesses to display a Town of Purcellville decal on their vehicle. These changes do not eliminate the motor vehicle license fee, which will continue to be paid annually with the personal property tax bills.

As of January 1, 2018, Town of Purcellville decals may be removed from your windshield or motorcycle. Decals are not refundable and citizens do not need to return them to Town Hall. The Finance Department will continue to utilize the DMV Stop program that prevents individuals and businesses delinquent in paying their tax bills from conducting business at the Department of Motor Vehicles.
