PURCELLVILLE, Va. November 14, 2017— The holiday season is upon us and Purcellville is pleased to announce a variety of festive family-friendly events. Please note some of the Town’s traditional events have time and location changes for 2017. Also, applications for parade entries are still being accepted for the 14th Annual Christmas Parade. Additional details are available Events and Activities page of the Town of Purcellville’s website at www.PurcellvilleVa.gov. Information about the holiday events in Purcellville is listed below:

Annual Christmas Tree Lighting

December 1, 6:30 p.m. - Town Hall

Join us at Purcellville Town Hall located at 221 S. Nursery Ave. as Mayor Kwasi Fraser flips the switch to light the Town Tree. Attendees will enjoy a special performance by the Dance Academy of Loudoun.

 Annual Christmas Lights Trolley Tours

December 8 & 10, Friday, 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.; Sunday, 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
Purcellville Town Hall

Bring your family for a ride through Purcellville to look at the beautiful display of holiday decorations and lights throughout the Town! Each tour will take approximately 40 minutes and you’ll be treated to the best visual displays in Purcellville. The annual holiday lights tours are hosted by the Purcellville Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, and will depart from the front of Purcellville Town Hall at 221 S. Nursery Avenue. Tickets are complimentary and will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis with tickets for each tour available the hour before the tour starts (i.e. tickets for a 6 p.m. tour will be available at 5 p.m. until all are handed out; tickets for the 7 p.m. tour will be available starting at 6 p.m. until all are handed out, etc.). The last tour on Friday will leave at 9:00 p.m., and Sunday’s last trolley will leave at 8:00 p.m. Please note that Lighthouse Drama will be presenting a free play at the Bush Tabernacle on December 8, 9, and 10, with doors opening at 7 p.m. Please be careful when parking for the trolley tours and the play on Friday, December 8!

14th Annual Purcellville Christmas Parade

December 9, 12:00 p.m. Downtown and Main Street

Enjoy the Town of Purcellville’s 14th annual Christmas Parade! It will start in downtown Purcellville at 21st Street, turn left onto Main Street, followed by left turn onto Maple Ave., and conclude at Loudoun Valley High School. To participate in the parade, please complete and return the Parade Entry Form which can be found on the Events and Activities page of the Town of Purcellville’s website at www.PurcellvilleVa.gov. 

Holiday Open House

December 9, 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. – Purcellville Town Hall and the Purcellville Train Station

Join us before or after the parade for a Holiday Open House at Purcellville Town Hall including a huge Lego train display, face painting, and fun activities. Activities at the Purcellville Train Station will include an ornament decorating workshop, hosted by the Purcellville Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, and photos with Santa 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. (bring your own camera).

At the Bush Tabernacle, the Lighthouse Drama will have a free play called The Best Christmas Pageant Ever on Thursday, December 7 through Saturday, December 9. On Saturday, December 9, Bethany United Methodist Church will host a breakfast for Santa (reservations required), and starting November 24, the Purcellville Volunteer Fire Company will sell Christmas trees.

While you are enjoying all of the holiday festivities, be sure to keep an eye out for the custom, hand-painted ornaments and winter scene banners throughout Town. These decorations, original works by local artists, represent various aspects of the community and are a great addition to our downtown and Main Street areas. Stop by our local shops, enjoy a nice meal, and support your local businesses during this holiday season!
