[ARCHIVED] News Release - Tree Removal at Fireman's Field

PURCELLVILLE, Va. May 16, 2017 — On Thursday, May 18, 2017, the Town of Purcellville’s Tree Contractor, Arbogast Lawn and Tree Inc. will be removing a oak tree at Fireman’s Field. This tree has been identified by our arborist as decaying.

The 13-acre Fireman’s Field Park is located in the Purcellville Historic District and contains the town’s most significant remaining urban forest populated with trees ranging in size from small dogwoods to centuries old white oaks.

While it saddens us to have to remove the tree, a new tree will be planted in its place to allow the next generations to continue to enjoy the beauty of the trees located within Fireman’s Field. If you have any questions, please contact the Town of Purcellville’s Maintenance Superintendent at (540)338-7440 ext. 220 or jdidawick@purcellvillva.gov.
