PURCELLVILLE, Va. December 22, 2016 — The Purcellville Police Department announces their next Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) meeting for Wednesday, January 11, 2017, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers in Town Hall. This meeting will focus on recruiting and retention of police officers in Purcellville. A presentation will be made by Mr. Barry Dufek highlighting the importance of hiring highly qualified officers, what is takes to be a law enforcement officer, and who should apply to name a few topics. Expect an evening full of questions and answers, and if you have someone you believe would make a great officer, bring them along.
The CAC serves as one of many avenues to bring community concerns to the Police Department and also a way to inform and educate community members on the role of the police, crime trends, initiatives, resources and accomplishments. The CAC was initiated in November 2016 and is currently recruiting members of the community to join. Chief McAlister stated, “It is my goal to have the community engaged to identify, evaluate and respond to the needs of the community as well as the needs of the Department. It is my ultimate goal to ensure we have positive lines of communication between the community and their officers.”
