PURCELLVILLE, Va. (October 3, 2016) — With the new school year upon us the Town staff has identified the southern portion of Elliot Drive as requiring safety enhancements to protect students using the Blue Ridge Middle School crosswalk and neighbors exiting and entering their drive ways. The Town will be painting the curb yellow in the vicinity of the cross walk in order to achieve the following safety improvements:
1. Improve sight distance on the curve.
2. Improve sight distance for the crosswalk.
3. Improve sight distance for driveways in this area.
4. Improve the hydrant restricted zone.
The Town will be making these improvements starting Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 9:00 am and ending October 4, 2016 at 12:00 pm. During this time, we will enforce no parking in the work zone. Please drive with caution, watch for turning or stopping vehicles including construction equipment, and to be alert for changes in traffic patterns in areas where the curb painting is being performed.
